Maler Road 2015
On the Wednesday before Ascension Day we met for the first time in a small group of 4 people who met on FB. The other 3 came from Bavaria, Thuringia and Lower Saxony had already traveled to Dresden. I only arrived at night. We quickly introduced ourselves, drank a small welcome champagne and then we went to bed. We had rented a small apartment in Dresden. After a short breakfast we would like to take the bus to Lohmen and from there our Malerweg adventure on foot began. Our
1st stage
ran from Lohmen past the stone table to the bastion. There we made a short sightseeing break and then we went down the Schwedenlöcher to the Amselfall and then via Rathewalde and the Hockstein to Hohnstein. That was a relatively long stage, but the first few kilometers were not particularly strenuous. In Hohnstein we had again rented a small apartment in the Hotel Weißer Hirsch up on the roof. It was great, but our feet burned so much that we didn't want to go outside. After a very good and hearty dinner at the hotel, we went to bed fairly early. On Friday after breakfast we set out
2nd stage
namely it went via the Brandweg to the Brandbaude via the Kohlmühle to Altendorf. From there we went on to Mitteldorf, where we moved into a small private pension. Opposite there was something decent to eat in a restaurant and a beer after work. But this evening was not particularly long. On Saturday we had a hearty breakfast in the restaurant, because the
3rd stage
should be long again. We went from Mitteldorf via Altendorf in the direction of Schrammsteine, then to the Affenfelsen and we took a break at the cowshed. Of course we also used it to climb the ladder to heaven. We wanted to go to the Ottendorfer Hütte via the Beuthenfall and the Felsenmühle. However, it was not clear to us how far that should be from the Felsenmühle. So I put my thumb out and actually stopped a young girl, which drove us past the hut on the way to his party. You can't imagine how happy we were. We made a feast out of dinner and many of them were completely wrecked in their sleeping bags. On the last day of
4th stage
we noticed our feet quite a lot, but we walked over the Neumannmühle and the big Winterberg to Schmilka. We took a lunch break on the Winterberg, because there was Bohemian cuisine there. In Schmilka we looked at the mill and then we took the boat to the train station in Bad Schandau. From there we went back to Dresden. Some of us went to the Dixieland Festival on the Elbe. This was the first tour of the emerging hiking group the Marauders and it was great.
