It has now become so common that not only do I organize the trips, but also the other members have ideas for nice weekends and then organize them as well. So Stefan invited us to the Thuringian Forest for the 7 summit tour, what a great idea. We lived on the lonely
Suhl mountain hut,
from which we could start directly. The hut was a bit hidden and I had trouble finding my way at night and when it was foggy. At some point we realized, laughing out loud, that we had hit the hut on the forest road from behind. Good thing no one saw us. The hut was equipped with a dormitory and a lounge with a tiled stove. There was a small kitchen and a tiny toilet. However, we were allowed to use the toilets and showers in the neighboring restaurant. We got on really well with that. After arrival there was a lot to tell and to explore the area. The boys had to fetch wood and the girls made something to eat. There were new participants again and so it was another long night. On Saturday, Stefan worked out a great day hike for us
7 peak tour. To start we are with the
bus
drove to Eisenberg, a beautiful route with beautiful views and if you tried hard you could even see the Brocken. The highlight of the tour was the
snowhead. After our return we rested a bit and played or drank coffee and in the evening Stefan had in one
Restaurant Waldhotel Schmuecke
reserved a table for us. There we enjoyed it. However, we were then so tired and exhausted from the day that this evening should not be so long. On Sunday we did a little hiking tour to Steinbach-Hallenberg. So after breakfast we hiked along the Reifweg and the
Ruppberg
to the ruins of Hallenburg am Knüllfeld and the
mountain hut
over. We made lunch at
Restaurant at the head
and from there we started our way back and in the afternoon we went back home. The Thuringian Forest is also great.
